Project

Project objective: To optimise the strength-relevant, load-bearing main components of the Niagara T-Class screening machine with regard to durability, retention of value and cost-effectiveness.

The solution: use of an innovative hybrid joining technique for the screen box without weld seams, a first in screening technology. In addition, the future-proof microZINQ corrosion protection solution was used. In detail, the microZINQ-coated surfaces of the steel components were directly paired and joined using a riveted and bolted connection that connects all main components directly to one another in a force- and form-fit, assembly- and maintenance-friendly manner.

Project background: Haver & Boecker Niagara and ZINQ have enjoyed a close and trusting partnership for many years. With ZINQ Technologie acting as the group's innovation hub, ZINQ contributes its strengths in surface technology, and together they are creating new solutions for industry.

Conclusion

The interplay between the innovations of the microZINQ surface and the further development of hybrid joining technologies at Haver & Boecker Niagara has been proven, following intensive field testing, to be exceptionally well suited to withstanding the demanding operating conditions of vibrating screen machines subject to high accelerations and frequent load cycles in customer applications within the mining, fertiliser, building materials, and recycling industries.

Thus, the development goal was achieved, and complex welded structures, with their welds acting as the starting point for fatigue under continuous load, were replaced by a maintenance-friendly, durable and resource-efficient modern design of the screening machine.

Outlook

Specifically for Haver & Boecker Niagara, as part of the project the components of the T Class screen box are assembled at ZINQ and subsequently coated ‚just in time‘ with the high-performance surface microZINQ. In future, even greater focus will be placed on ‚smart‘ logistics concepts based on ZINQ 360 be used to streamline product realisation and optimise the value chain.
