Components of modular traffic control systems are given a zinc-aluminium coating.

For individual components of modular traffic sign systems, a thin coating is sought as corrosion protection which is visually characterised by a silver to matt grey appearance and fulfils the requirements of a sustainable product, particularly with regard to its longevity and the effective, circular use of resources. With the zinc-aluminium coating microZINQ, the solution was found; logistics services in the context of ZINQ 360 are now also being undertaken by the surface finisher.

 

Realisation

Currently, 177 different steel components for interchangeable systems, which include both swap bodies and drawbar swap bodies, are being micro-galvanised at the Hagen site. The low coating thicknesses of up to 15 µm—compared to conventional hot-dip galvanising, which can reach up to 120 µm depending on the application—are particularly significant in the mobility sector, as the reduced zinc coating thickness also directly saves energy. For the logistics surrounding the individual components, which have a maximum weight of up to 253 kilograms, SDG utilises the ZINQ 360 service, which includes a comprehensive range of additional services from A to Z.
