Lorry barrier in the crash test

Project

duroZINQ hot-dip galvanising of components used as truck roadblocks. The dual-mounted barriers from Herne (HTS for short) rotate towards each other upon impact and lock into the underbody of the lorry. This effect is further increased by linking additional rows in front of each other. Apart from stabilisers and roller bodies, the parts were additionally powder-coated in red (RAL 3020) and white (RAL 9010) – a colour combination already familiar from public spaces that stands out while still blending harmoniously into an urban environment.

Realisation

The specialist work prior to delivery of the HTS was carried out on behalf of the company by Kostuj Metallbau, which also holds the expertise for welding. Piece galvanising is undertaken to this day by ZINQ at the Castrop-Rauxel site, as is the subsequent powder coating in red and white. The entire barrier is delivered to the customer ready for assembly, with a single unit weighing a total of 44 kg and no part being heavier than 15 kg. It is the design philosophy that it can be dismantled into its individual parts to enable storage, transport and assembly by a single person.
