Project

Galvanising of two large cages with duroZINQ and the steel components of CosmoGolem, a work of art symbolising children's rights. The aforementioned elements belong to the „Labiomista“ project initiated by Koen Vanmechelen in Genk.

Realisation

The components, which were originally planned to be larger at up to 15 m x 3.5 m, were broken down into smaller units of max. 7.5 m x 3.5 m after consultation with the customer in order to be able to galvanise them in one piece. The two approximately 26-metre cages made of hot-dip galvanised pipes and profiles currently house various birds. The approximately 10-metre-high sculpture CosmoGolem, whose steel components are protected against corrosion in the best possible way with duroZINQ, is freely accessible to visitors of „Labiomista“.

„Longevity, integration into the environment and the emphasis on natural materials – these were all reasons why those responsible opted for galvanising. It goes without saying that we then realised the two large birdcages and the steel components of the so-called CosmoGolem artwork with our partner Galva Power Houthalen. As has been the case since the beginning of our cooperation: here too with a more than satisfactory result. The hopefully numerous day visitors will also be able to see this for themselves in the future.“
