Project
duroZINQ finishing of various components (total volume: 5,088 tonnes) with subsequent paint coating in some cases
Iceland: The country fascinates me with its geysers, volcanoes and wild landscapes, and was a filming location for the well-known US television series „Game of Thrones“. Where in the fictional setting the Night's Watch is protected from White Walkers, a different, vicious enemy is emerging in reality: rust. In the north-east of Iceland, in Húsavík, one of the most modern, sustainable and corrosion-resistant silicon plants in the world is to be built. To protect it from decay, Züblin Stahlbau GmbH is having various components hot-dip galvanised with duroZINQ and partially coated with paint as a design element.
Realisation
The components received their corrosion protection at the Landsberg site, 258 containers were packed and loaded right here before heading straight to the freight ports in Hamburg or Bremerhaven. Some were also given the desired paint coating before setting off for the construction site in Iceland. The plant is scheduled for commissioning in 2018.
