Project

Ateliers Jean Nouvel designed the 16-storey „Ycone“ building for Lyon's „La Confluence“ district, whose distinctive façade creates the impression of two buildings in one. For the façade elements (163 tonnes) and gutters (10 tonnes), batch galvanising – partly combined with colour enhancement – was chosen given the many advantages of batch galvanising, such as permanent protection against the wind and weather, long-term protection without the need for maintenance, high resistance to abrasion and impact, cost-effectiveness and individual design options.

Realisation

The three ZINQ sites of Lyon, Valence and Auvergne were involved; construction work on the 16-storey building was completed at the beginning of 2019.
