Project
Container for agricultural residues receives eco-friendly surface with duroZINQ.
A container with dimensions of 6500 x 2300 x 1500 mm and a weight of 3 t is to be permanently protected against corrosion with the lowest possible maintenance effort. The container is intended as a transport vessel for digestate resulting from biogas production and liquid manure. Immersing the container in the XXL galvanising bath at the Maintal ZINQ site is the method of choice.
Realisation
When the container, manufactured by Strobach Container GmbH on behalf of Agro Energie Hohenlohe, was dipped into the XXL hot-dip galvanising bath in Maintal (8.50 metres x 2.60 metres x 3.30 metres) in August 2020, consultations and discussions regarding its design and fabrication suitable for hot-dip galvanising were already behind the parties involved. Some missing boreholes were taken care of in Maintal, and after the dipping process, an iron-zinc alloy layer averaging 80 µm protected not only the outer surface of the container but also the internal cavity against corrosion. In Füßbach (Baden-Württemberg), the vessel was then mounted on a chassis – and was ready for use for its actual purpose by the end of August.
