For the steel main elements and supports of a gigantic gantry sign with individual weights of up to 12.5 tonnes, a durable and reliable protection against corrosion was sought. Those responsible opted for an ecoZINQ surface, thereby choosing the zinc surface with the lowest carbon footprint in the industry currently – combined with the highest quality of corrosion protection. Subsequently, the surface also received a wet coating in accordance with the tender specifications. Germany's longest traffic sign gantry, measuring 69.5 metres, was erected in February 2024 on the A7 motorway between the Heimfeld and Waltershof junctions.
