Project
Under the name „The Flag Wiesbaden“, the former „Duplex High-Rise“ on Dürerplatz – known as an office building for decades – is being revitalised and adapted for a second life. Instead of demolition and new construction, the existing structure will be preserved and converted – a sustainable approach in itself. The building will be reimagined as a modern apartment complex with 65 accessible senior living units. In addition to an extra storey, the building will feature a green facade and new balconies with planters. The demanding steel construction work was carried out by Hahner Technik GmbH & Co. KG from Fulda: 643 posts made of a total of 96.5 tonnes of steel were installed and assembled for the reinforcement of the existing shell, along with 64 balcony support structures weighing a further 242 tonnes. This also included 12 tonnes of sub-frame for windows and facade. ecoZINQ was used for permanent corrosion protection – a circular surface that offers the highest durability and a significant CO₂ reduction.2Reduction enabled: Minus 43 % emissions compared to classic hot-dip galvanising and 185 kg CO2-Saving per tonne of steel compared to high-quality coating systems. Another important component of the collaboration was also the depotmobil service from the ZINQ-360 programme, which ensured efficient and resource-saving logistics.
