Project

The terminal building of the Cruise Center Baakenhöft in Hamburg's eastern HafenCity on Kirchenpauerkai is considered a genuine novelty for Germany.

In the eastern HafenCity at Kirchenpauerkai, an alternative terminal was to be built for the well-known Hamburg Cruise Terminal HafenCity in the southern Überseequartier, which is itself only a temporary facility. The special feature of the new Baakenhöft terminal: for the first time in Germany, a building with R30 fire protection was realised using hot-dip galvanising.

Realisation

The structural steelwork was carried out by Holtkamp Stahlkonstruktionen GmbH in Nottuln in accordance with the specifications of DIN EN 1090-2, and approximately 80 tonnes of steel were then transported to ZINQ at the Gelsenkirchen site. In accordance with the assembly concept, the components were pre-commissioned after hot-dip galvanising and delivered to the construction site in this manner. The building was completed as planned in May 2020.
