Underrun guards in the commercial vehicle sector are subjected to the most extreme demands. Again and again, rough routes also have to be mastered. Over stick, stone and gravel – the underrun guards for commercial vehicles from Schwarzmüller need to be protected against corrosion as well as possible and also be visually impressive. The choice of corrosion protection fell on microZINQ. Especially in highly corrosive environments for steel in outdoor applications, this is a reliable and high-performance surface finish.

Realisation

The first square tubes for the underrun protection, weighing around 30 kilograms each, arrived at the Hagen ZINQ site at the end of 2014. By this time, the innovative high-performance microZINQ coating had already been used millions of times on automotive underbody suspension parts and ultimately also convinced those responsible at the Schwarzmüller Group.
