Internship at ZINQ: Young talents from Honduras gain insights into German industry

At ZINQ in Gelsenkirchen, three young interns from Honduras are guests. For several weeks, they are learning what everyday work looks like in a German industrial company in the central maintenance plant. They are not only getting a look behind the scenes of the technology, but are also visiting the vocational school to gain a comprehensive picture of training and careers.

The internship is part of a project by the IHK Nord Westfalen, which aims to bring young people from vocational schools abroad into early contact with training companies in Germany. The approach is: Gain practical experience, create perspectives.

In the first step, participants get to know both the company and the vocational school. If both sides are convinced, this can lead to an apprenticeship in the second step – accompanied by support with integration and daily life.

The idea behind the project:

  • To create early connections between young people from vocational schools in a third country and businesses
  • Attracting skilled workers to the North Westphalia region
  • Simultaneously build competencies in the country of origin

This internship is a prime example of how international cooperation, education, and practical experience come together and how young talent can broaden their horizons.
