Partnership between Rö-Trans Spedition and ZINQ marks its twentieth anniversary

Dawn is already breaking as Uwe Rösen, owner of Rö-Trans Spedition, enters the fenced-off site in Bochum (NRW) and starts his truck with a gleaming ignition key. Several hundred kilometres lie ahead of the sixty-year-old, and as has often been the case in previous years, today's tour for his oldest customer, the surface finishing specialist ZINQ, will take him to the Netherlands and back. The collaborative partnership between ZINQ and this logistics company has already lasted 20 years – equivalent to over 2 million kilometres driven in the service of ZINQ and its customers. Rösen expertly steers the 40-tonne vehicle through the narrow streets directly onto the motorway.

„I will travel to the ZINQ sites in Castrop-Rauxel and Gelsenkirchen, load a variety of galvanised materials there, and then make stops at various ZINQ customers to load black, i.e. ungalvanised material, or to deliver the corrosion-protected components on time.“ For Rösen, his tours are still an experience to this day, no two days are the same – and even after more than 40 years on the road and in contact with the most diverse people and employees in the many large and small companies that the native of Bochum deals with, this is exactly his thing.

Trailer with proven hot-dip galvanised components

In fact, his company concentrates on transport and freight forwarding for domestic haulage. Before that, he had already spent a long time driving concrete for his employer at the time. The trailers of the trucks that Rö-Trans currently uses to serve customers are hot-dip galvanised – and for good reason, as Uwe Rösen notes: „The galvanised trailer components are thus excellently protected against rain, snow, de-icing salts or stone chippings. The corrosion protection is extremely robust, making the trailers very durable and retaining their value.“

Rö-Trans Haulage Family Business

To this day, despite hundreds of thousands of kilometres on the road, he has only had to spend the night in his lorry four times, adding with a mischievous smile that he then hardly got any sleep – the external noise at the service stations was too overwhelming. Both of his sons, Marcel and Roman, and his wife are involved in the business, making it a real family enterprise. Three articulated lorries are available, and the Rösen family can make a lot of things possible for their clients. In order to comply with driving times and still be able to fulfil short-notice appointment requests, it sometimes happens that Mr and Mrs Rösen sit together in the cab, taking turns driving. This was also the case on a trip to England. „To make our ferry on time, we were under a bit of time pressure, and the unloading seemed to drag on. So, I stretched my legs a bit and got into conversation with a warehouse employee. When he heard that we were from Germany and lived near the football club Schalke 04, everything suddenly went very quickly. The football fan waved goodbye to us enthusiastically – that's just one of many hundreds of memorable experiences one collects over time.“

Good cooperation on equal terms

Collecting, unloading, loading and back again, often after many brief conversations, Uwe Rösen heads home. For him, ZINQ means good, solution-oriented cooperation on an equal footing. Rösen now directly arranges appointments with many ZINQ customers. „The true measure of a transport company is revealed not only in its reliability and flexibility,“ says Dirk Biegel, plant manager at the ZINQ site in Essen. „In this family business, humanity and warmth are also highly valued, and we greatly appreciate this trusting collaboration with our long-standing transport partner Rö-Trans.“ Back at the starting point, Rösen parks his truck on the fenced-in premises in Bochum, clearly satisfied and in good spirits. It's no wonder that even after so many decades in the profession, he's not thinking of stopping anytime soon.
