What I do at ZINQ in Bruchsal

Alex Voigt: „I joined ZINQ in 2019 and completed my apprenticeship as a process mechanic for coating technology here. Originally, I wanted to become a motor vehicle mechatronics technician, but through personal contacts I became aware of ZINQ – and it was a match straight away. During my apprenticeship, I went through many departments, was able to learn a lot and was always well supported. What particularly sticks in my mind is my test piece, a small parking post that I manufactured and hot-dip galvanised for my intermediate and final examinations. I still have that at home today. The time at the vocational college in Gelsenkirchen was also formative, because you get to know other apprentices from all over Germany there and as ZINQer grows together.

What I like most about my job is that no two days are the same and at the end of the day I can always see what I’ve achieved. I never wanted to sit at a desk all day; I wanted to get stuck in and create something with my own hands – and that is exactly what I can do here at ZINQ. I find the variety of components that we process in Landsberg particularly exciting. Everything is included, from small parts to huge steel structures over 20 metres long. When such special transports arrive with police escort, it certainly stays in your memory.“

I really value the collegiate environment and the fact that you can always ask questions and receive support. Especially as an apprentice, you quickly realise that you are taken seriously and can genuinely learn something. On top of that, ZINQ takes care of a lot of things and supports you along the way – that provides security and shows appreciation.“
