For visually authentic replicas of a total of four parts from two aircraft types (one from the US manufacturer Lockheed Corporation and one from the Douglas Aircraft Company), long-term corrosion protection is required, particularly for various internal components, as they are to find their permanent home in a traffic roundabout at Ramstein Air Base (Rhineland-Palatinate). Components of the nacelles (engine casings) and the empennage at the rear are therefore given their long-lasting protection with duroZINQ.

 

Realisation

The various components for the nacelles and tail units were designed in consultation with ZINQ so that they resulted in structures suitable for hot-dip galvanising. The individual components were successively batch-hot-dip galvanised using duroZINQ and then brought back to the workshop of Schlosserei Neumann in Bruchmühlbach-Miesau. The two aircraft were officially handed over in spring 2023 in a short ceremony and are now ready for eternity.
