Project

duroZINQ hot-dip galvanising of three steel tree trunk components used for a tree canopy at a hotel entrance in Bad Bocklet (Bavaria). The tree canopy, with an area of around 115 m2, has a height of approximately 4 m, and its dimensions are 14.5 m at its longest and 11.5 m at its widest point. It depicts several stylised tree trunks with a leafy canopy.

Realisation

The geometric peculiarity of the canopy lies in the fact that there is only one right angle, otherwise the outer contours are curved in various radii. In addition, the foremost segment of the canopy sweeps upwards by approximately 1 m so that the roof creates an open design for the entrance area, which has varying height levels. The roof structure consists of a trapezoidal sheet metal support shell with insulation and a green roof build-up, whilst a double-skinned construction made of aluminium sheets is suspended underneath. Hot-dip galvanising of the tree trunk components was carried out by the Maintal ZINQ plant.
