Crisp air, blue skies, green meadows and an impressive mountain panorama – on this June morning in the municipality of Trins in Austria, the mood is inevitably upbeat. On holiday? Far from it. Michael Rahlke, Business Development at ZINQ Technologie, is on a completely different mission.
For an outsourcing test in Trins (Austria), solar profiles were coated with the high-aluminium microZINQ surface developed by ZINQ for the first time in December 2015. In cooperation with the company Welser Profile and its customer Hilber Solar, this marked a genuine first for the solar industry. Where aluminium, stainless steel and conventionally hot-dip galvanised steel with coating thicknesses of 60 – 200 µm (depending on the material) usually „shine“, the resource-saving microZINQ surface was now able to demonstrate its capabilities – not least to explore the opportunities and possibilities of substitution. In the summer of 2017, after exactly 18 months, the micro-galvanised surfaces were scheduled to undergo intensive inspection.
Realisation
The inspection reveals the following: the profiles are visually glossy, no signs of weathering or rust are discernible and overall a very good resistance due to the passive properties of the surface can be observed.
