ZINQ wins the „Cradle-to-Cradle Challenge Award“

Celle. Red carpet and a large stage, a thrilling evening full of excitement and leaps of joy awaited at 8 November 2018 over 400 invited representatives of the construction industry in Celle, Lower Saxony. This was not about a celebratory gathering, but about the renowned ArchitectsDarling Awards: Who can boast of being the architects„ favourite and hold the golden trophy in their hands? In the “Cradle-to-Cradle Challenge Award" category, the ZINQ Group won over the judges straight away on their very first participation.
The gala evening was hosted by presenters Jörg Kreuder, General Sales Manager at Heinze, and Prof. Thomas Knerer from Knerer und Lang Architekten. True to form, the Cradle to Cradle Challenge Award was presented by „eco-visionary“ Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart. Michael Braungart summarised the ZINQ Group taking first place:
„ZINQ doesn't just have Cradle to Cradle certified products. They go much further than others. Cradle to Cradle is innovation, quality and design. ZINQ has internalised this. Cradle to Cradle is an integral part of the company's philosophy and identity.“
The nineteen-member jury, led by Prof. Dr Michael Braungart, was completely convinced and named ZINQ the winner of the Cradle-to-Cradle Challenge Award at its very first time entering the competition.
The Cradle to Cradle concept:
Cradle to Cradle® (C2C) is a design concept inspired by nature. All products are designed according to the principle of a potentially infinite circular economy. This distinguishes Cradle to Cradle from conventional recycling and the concept of eco-efficiency. Unlike the doctrine of efficiency in the use of energy and resources, the C2C philosophy views the use of resources not as a matter of quantity, but of quality. The prerequisite is the use of high-grade, „good“ materials and the ability to maintain material quality in closed loops at all times – moving away from „less of the wrong thing“ towards „more of the right thing“. The goal of the positive footprint is not a matter of scale. Cradle to Cradle is a concrete concept with ISO-compliant certification as proof of implementation of specifications. Thus, the implementation of the C2C principle is also possible on an industrial scale if processes and products are conceived, designed and implemented according to C2C principles.
