Over 20,000 German bridges require renovation, creating an investment demand of well over 10 billion euros – additional costs due to loss of earnings have not even been factored in yet.
No question: there is an urgent need for action regarding bridge renovation.
With the now published brochure „The Use of Hot-Dip Galvanised Components in Steel and Composite Bridge Construction“, a team of experts comprising Prof. Dr.-Ing. D. Ungermann, Dipl.-Ing. D. Rademacher, Dr.-Ing. T. Pinger, and Dr.-Ing. O. Hechler presents the practice-relevant results of a multi-part research project from the years 2010-2013. In collaboration with bauforumstahl e.V., this team of experts has now transferred the findings on the batch galvanising of steel bridge components into a company-independent compendium for design and calculation engineers. The approximately 60-page design aid thus offers, for the first time, a condensed insight into the relevant technical backgrounds and interrelationships for galvanized steel construction components.
With Dr.-Ing. Thomas Pinger, a practitioner from ZINQ® Voigt & Schweizer, also sits on the expert team, who significantly complements the technical depth of detail.
